Royal Parks Half: "There is no doubt that reading is essential to progress in life."
Runner and former L2L2R volunteer, Joey, tells us more about why she enjoyed her time supporting children's reading in Wandsworth primary schools.
Former L2L2R reading volunteer, Joey, is running the Royal Parks Half to raise money for us. Here's how she feels our volunteers help children in Wandsworth become better readers:
“I am running for Learn to Love to Read because there is no doubt that reading is essential to progress in life. I used to volunteer for this wonderful charity, doing weekly reading sessions with children at a local primary school, and it was so good to see an enjoyment of reading develop, and progress being made with the children.
I also love running and although in recent years I have not run great distances I have welcomed the opportunity to spend more time outside, building up a bit of mileage, and having the opportunity to take part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
